Our Young People

We work with young people and their families who are likely to
underachieve due to low aspirations and potential disaffection.

The programme focuses on young people facing multiple barriers to success
in education, and is tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual.

Young people are identified as being:

• Likely to underachieve academically
• Involved in anti-social behaviour or crime
• Persistent absentees or likely to be excluded

And also likely to experience a range of these risk factors:

• Poor family support and support networks
• Friends and family involved in gangs or with criminal convictions
• Poor aspirations and poor emotional, coping and social skills
• Living in a deprived neighbourhood and receiving free school meals
• The first in family to continue into Post 16 education
• Teenage pregnancy
• Addiction to drugs and alcohol
